If using fresh blueberries, wash them thoroughly. If using frozen blueberries, let them thaw.
In a medium saucepan, combine the blueberries and honey (or maple syrup) over medium heat.
Cook the blueberries, stirring occasionally, until they release their juices and the mixture thickens into a compote. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
In small mason jars or serving cups with lids, alternate layers of yogurt and blueberry compote.Start with a layer of yogurt at the bottom, add a spoonful of blueberry compote, and repeat until you reach the top. Top with flaxseed if using.
Place the assembled blueberry yogurt in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes before serving.
