Best Ever Gluten Free Turkey Burgers

Photos by Marie-Catherine Dubé’

Who doesn’t love a good burger once in a while? My whole family certainly does. Problem is, my husband’s gluten-free so going on a burger hunt can be tricky.

Once I started making them for us, we never looked back. These healthy turkey burgers are totally gluten-free, easy to make and perfect for when the burger craving strikes.

Lean ground turkey is not as fatty as red meat so needs an extra boost of fresh herbs and spices, so make sure to add it all for tons of flavor. Of course, don’t forget to dress your burger with all the fixings!

My favorite way is with crispy lettuce, tomato, avocado and cheese, but add your favorite burger toppings, a side of sweet potato fries and kiss the drive through window goodbye.

👩‍🍳 How to Make Gluten-Free Turkey Burgers

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey meat, gluten-free breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped red onion, minced garlic, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Gently mix the ingredients until they are well combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the burgers tough.
  3. Divide the burger mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into turkey patties. You can make them as thick or thin as you prefer.
  4. Heat a grill or a stovetop pan over medium-high heat and grease it lightly with cooking spray or oil.
  5. Place the turkey burger patties on the grill, in a pan or a grill pan and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they are cooked through, slightly golden brown and have an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  6. While the burgers are cooking, you can toast the gluten-free hamburger buns if you’d like.
  7. Serve the cooked patties on the buns, and add your favorite gluten-free toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, or condiments.

🪄 Tips and Tricks

  • Do not over-mix your turkey mixture as it will result in a tough burger. Juicy burgers only!
  • For babies over 6 months old: serve disassembled with turkey patty cut up, avocado slices, bread and cheese.
