Juicy Air Fryer Chicken Burger made with Sour Cream

I am a sucker for a good cheeseburger. But I like to switch it up from the usual burger patties made from red meat. These air fryer chicken burgers are every bit as juicy as a traditional burger but being made with ground chicken, are much healthier for you. My secret ingredient: sour cream. 

Sour cream is a great way to add creaminess and richness to ground chicken, which has a tendency to be dry because it’s so lean. This tasty burger is an easy way to curb your burger craving…and still feel great! The air fryer makes these burgers crispy and delicious, with no mess.

👩‍🍳 How to Make Air Fryer Chicken Burger

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground chicken, sour cream, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, parsley, basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into burger patties. Ensure that they are same in size for even cooking.
  4. Spray avocado oil spray in the air fryer basket and place the chicken patties in a single layer, leaving some space between them. Cook for about 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the patties reach an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and are golden brown and cooked through.
  5. While the patties are cooking, prepare your burger buns and desired toppings.
  6. If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
  7. Assemble your air fryer chicken burgers by placing the cooked patties on the buns and adding your favorite toppings and condiments.

🪄 Tips and Tricks

  • Do not overmix your ground chicken mixture as it will make tough burgers. Mix until just combined.
  • When making the patties, make some smaller sizes for baby led weaning and toddlers or cut the patties into age-appropriate sizes when serving.
