Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate Smoothie

I love dessert. I especially love dessert that’s filled with nutrient dense ingredients. This peanut butter banana chocolate smoothie has exactly that.

Kids love it because it tastes like a chocolate milkshake and I love serving it because it’s filled with protein, healthy fats and has no added sugar.

With a creamy texture from peanut butter and sweetened with dates, this smoothie is great way to curb kids’ sweet tooth and get an extra boost of protein at the same time. Everyone’s happy!

I serve this on a hot summer day or as a quick breakfast or after school snack. I promise, the whole house is going to love this decadent and indulgent treat.

🪄 Tips and Tricks

  • For the best flavor, use overripe bananas. They have a little extra sweetness.
  • For best results, use a frozen banana. They make the smoothie extra cold without having to add ice.
  • When freezing bananas for a smoothie, I cut them into banana slices prior to freezing. This helps them blend really well, without having any chunks.

🗒 Substitutions

  • Use any milk of your choice.
  • Use your favorite nut butter in place of peanut butter. Almond butter, cashew butter or sunflower seed butter (for nut free) are yummy!
  • Replace hemp seeds with chia seeds, flax seeds or omit entirely.

🗒 Variations

  • Add in a teaspoon or two of pure maple syrup or honey to make this extra sweet.
  • Add a drop of vanilla extract for extra flavor.
  • Add in vanilla Greek yogurt for extra protein. This also makes it super creamy.

👝 How to Store Leftovers

I don’t suggest making this ahead of time as smoothies should be enjoyed right away. If you do have some extra, store it in an airtight container in the fridge and re-blendbefore drinking for the best texture.
